details: hair combs {guest blogger: hilary @ atla moda bridal}

Lately, tiaras seem to have taken a backseat to ornate combs and fanciful flowers for wedding day adornment.  A little flair can be added to a long locks, next to a veil, or tucked into an up-do.  If you’re not sure you want to wear a comb and a veil, consider selecting a comb to wear after the veil is shed and the real party begins. This gives you the added detail only a bride can get away with and it also allows for a little switch-up in your wedding style.

Your hair piece can be an easy and fun way to tie in the latest trend.
Maybe you went more for the more traditional gown, but want to add a contemporary vibe – choose a playful and dramatic accent.
If you always thought you’d wear a beaded gown but fell in love with sleek satin – let your comb and accessories punch it up.

Whether you like trendy, classic, or simple, here are a few basic categories and combs to get your wheels turning:

Helpful hints and tips:
Coordinate Color:
Don’t worry about being to “matchy”, but be sure your comb and veil coordinate nicely with the shade of your gown.

Size and Proportion:
It is possible to pull off a prominently sized hair piece with sleek hair, just but be sure the positioning compliments your bone structure.

Beading and Detail:
If your gown has a vintage feel, choose stones with warmer or muted undertones.  If it’s contemporary, opt for brighter accents.

Trend vs. Timeless:
Remember styles come and go, so simply choose a hair piece that makes you feel great on your wedding day.
