flower tip friday {the color purple}

This post is an extension if you will, of a post that I did for UTBNG earlier this week. I have recently been made more aware that today’s bride often times needs a basic flower education to help determine what it is she actually likes. So i decided to take a color and just tell you the basics of what is available & a little about the bloom, this is by no means the extent of what is available, but is a good base knowledge of what flowers could be an option.

For UBNG i focused on a popular color, yellow, for you readers on this fab friday i will focus on purple, another hot color choice for 2010. I figure there is enough colors for a serious that joins the two blogs together and will end in a good base education of every color option to be considered.

top row: from right to left – {tulip} comes in a few different shapes, shades, & textures. Typically in season oct-may but widely available on some level all year. means fame, undying love & royalty. {delphinium} also known as jacobs ladder is available april – nov. spike shaped clusters on stems as long as 40″. meaning big hearted & fun. {mini calla lily} widely available all year long. meaning regal or magnificent beauty. {dahlia} side note this particular color is difficult to find and very special. other shades exist and are more available. typically in season june-october but can be acquired through out the year. meaning treachery or instability (who cares about meaning anway right?)

row 2: {carnation} a flower that i think is all too often overlooked as an option, in my opinion one of its prettiest colors! Few flowers come in such a dark bold purple at such a reasonable rate! available all of the time. means fascination, distinction, fidelity. {tulip repeat} {stock} also a deep rich, and economical choice. its also available all year long. meaning lasting love & beauty. {dahlia repeat}

Row 3: {lisianthus} available all of the time. meaning faithfulness & calming. {rose} this also is a rare bread of color but so gorgeous. more common purple rose are ‘mystery’, ’sterling’ & ‘cool water’ . available all of the time of course and means passion, love, beauty. {delphinium repeat} {anemone} such an amazing bloom, but usually only available in their dec-may season. usually contain black or white centers. and meaning is expectation, fragile, fading hope.

row 4: {hydrangea} these large bloomed beut comes in so many shades of purple its hard to count. thus why i chose such a picture. These bloom locally during the summer season but really are available all year long! papery flower petals provide a soft feeling. meaning perserverance, heartlessness, & boastfulness. {alium} usually available april-nov these globe like flowers are modern bliss. meaning unity, prosperity & good fortune.{close up delphinium petal}

I hope that this little tid bit of purple flower choice tips has been informational! & that the series will prove to be of benefit to you .. UBB reader!
