Flower Friday: Pantone Color of 2014

Happy Friday! We thought a Flower Friday would be the perfect day to introduce the color of the year, because this year …… its based off of a flower! For those of you who might be somewhat unfamiliar with Pantone let us introduce you to what it is!

Pantone began as a commercial printing company, after the hiring of one part time employee {Lawrence Herbert} the company was subsequently changed into a pigment and ink driven company eventually owned by that part time employee. Pantone has basically created a color matching system for the design industry as a whole, and therefor many disciplines are affected from construction to plastics to fashion to weddings! They have become the “go to” for trending colors regarding all things design and their color of the year has heavily influenced the wedding industry now for the past 14 years they have set this standard.

Here is what Pantone says about this beautiful bloom: Blooms with confidence and magical warmth that intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination. It is an expressive, creative and embracing purple – one that draws you in with beguiling charm. A captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones. Radiant Orchid emanates great joy, love and health.

According to Pantone this particular color looks good on all skin tones in both makeup and fashion form, so in turn we expect that this tone will look good on all your bridesmaids, on your tables, and or in your blooms that you might be holding! So lets take a closer look at this bloom!

unique-white-purple-patterned-orchidThe purple Phalaenoposis orchid comes in a large variety of purple, fuchsia like tones that would be compliant with Pantones selection. Like this gorgeous white one with radiant purple speckles that we here at UBB love! The Phalaenopsis orchid is perhaps the most popular orchid in trade and growth today and over 60 species are currently being generated. Orchids are typically on the mid to higher end of cost per stem but a few of these beautiful babies go a long way! Not to mention how the use of this bold color could be used minimally as an impact-full accent tone to the complete focal color and or every color ratio in-between! There are also many other blooms that come in similar tones as well like: roses, carnations, anemone, stock, tulips, zinnia, lilies, celosia, and certainly more!

In honor of this beautiful 2014 tone we have made a small inspiration board to send you off on this winter weekend! Enjoy!
