Flower Friday: Recipe with Sarah Winward

It is our last recipe Friday of the year! We love recipe days, who doesn’t?! The ins-n-outs of flowers, the bloom varieties, and the extreme beauty that flowers create! To finish the year off with a bang Sarah Winward of Honey of a Thousand flowers is showing off a big beautiful arrangement in one of her signature urns! She joins us to show how she created this beautiful winter like piece without feeling too holiday! Thanks to Lindsey Orton Photography for keeping us visual in the recipe department all year long!

This winter arrangement feels just like Utah does to me right now. Its winter, but it hasn’t quite fully transformed from fall yet. Deep reds are the frequent choice for winter blooms because they feel rich and cozy. These huge peonies (grown in the southern hemisphere this time of year) are hard to say no to! I mixed in lots of smaller textural flowers and berries and nude colored roses to lighten up the arrangement a bit. That way it feels seasonally appropriate for right now, because it seems like fall has been sticking around for a while! Mixing the nude and more pink-toned flowers also make this arrangement not feel so Holiday, and that is important to many December brides. You can do winter without making it feel like Christmas!
