Kambria & Preston: Anniversary Session

This darling couple met here in Utah but shortly after both moved to NYC where their courtship continued, inevitably they ended up back in this great place where they got married in the spring of 2011. With their two year anniversary fast approaching they contacted their fav photog for a little anni session that we found to exude just enough romance mixed with some genuine love in a great natural environment. Both of us here at UBB have been married for a good amount of time and we both can attest to the importance of documenting the journey. All too often we get caught up in pics of our kids or of just life as it passes us by, not enough do we capture the love that makes it all go round!

Today we have a super fun and refreshing engagement video to share with you all that will for sure brighten up your day!  Lynden proposed to Brenna on August 19th, 2012 and he captured it on video along with their road trip from Salt Lake City, Utah to Southern California, then up the coast to San Francisco. What a fun way to capture your proposal and all the excitement that comes with being engaged and so madly in love! Thank you so much for sharing this video with us Lynden!

Patriotic Engagements {Sam & Kelly}

This past week has been a rough one for our sweet country. We decided this post couldn’t be more fitting to start off this new week right! Sam and Kelly met and fell in love in St. George. A week after they got engaged Sam went to San Diego for Marine Boot Camp for 3 months. Sam was able to come home for a month and they decided to do their engagements. While they were at it…they decided to get married! We love that they incorporated their love for the country as well as his uniform in the photos. And of course they are a gorgeous couple!

Flower Recipe With Blooms & Blossoms

We love our fabulous five florists here at UBB and we are always impressed with every interaction we have with each of them, this is a stellar group of talented pros and we are especially delighted in this series they are helping make happen for you, our readers. Today Kelli from Blooms & Blossoms joins us with one bouquet two ways: greens and no greens. Along with a few matching bouts. Really goes to show how a bloom only bouquet reads, and what a little green can do to change the look. Not to mention the endless bout options that come a long with just one bouquet! Take it away Kelli!

I often have bride’s come to me wanting a bouquet without any foliage. While I love a bouquet packed with only blooms I also adore a bouquet with the added greens. So, I decided to create two bouquets. Each bouquet has the same blooms but one of them has the added foliage. I absolutely love the flowers spring has to offer so I chose cheerful blooms in spring colors.  I designed one bouquet to be a little bit tighter and more compact while the other is more loose and whimsical. Instead of using traditional ribbon for the stems of the bouquet I like the idea of using a favorite scarf. Whether you use a scarf of a great grandmother or other relative or just pulling your favorite scarf from your closet it adds a special touch and personalizes the bouquet.

 I love playing with boutonnieres. For this particular style I wanted each boutonniere to be a little bit different and unique from the others. I felt it was important to keep some consistency so I used bay leaf and white ribbon on each boutonniere.

Park City Inspiration Shoot

Groups of vendors collaborate on a regular basis these days and this provides for you {the planning bride} a lot of visual inspiration and sources. We also love to see all the beautiful creations that artists come up with on their own, after all that is when a true artist really speaks to their talent. This time around we have a group who collaborated an eclectic look that reads just a touch vintage and a bit bohemian. All shot at the infamous Park City White Barn on the McPolin Farm. We especially loved all the floral details from Blue Lily Floral Design, the amazing gown from Alta Moda, and the gorgeous model and her hair & makeup from Dexterity Salon & Janelle Corey.

Flower Friday: Fresh Hair Floral

Bridal halos and fresh blooms are trumping the veil option for many brides these days and we are loving this look right now! The play on color is so feminine and compliments hair, makeup, and skin so well. Today we have a few bridal looks for you, with fresh floral in the hair,  as well as tips and advice from the florist herself on how to make fresh blooms up there on your noggin last!

Wearing fresh flowers in our hair is something we’ve done since we were 3 years old picking dandelions from the front lawn and tucking them behind our ear, but nowadays, if we want to accessorize with some beautiful blooms, we need to know a couple tricks to keep them looking beautiful all day long.

Always keep in mind that once a flower is cut and has no water source, the clock begins to tick.  If you’re wanting a beautiful headpiece for your wedding day, make sure you finish all the hairspray squirts before pining in your blooms.  The alcohol in hairspray is meant to help the liquid to evaporate and dry, and will also do this to your flowers if they’re caught in the line of fire.  Another idea for helping them to last, is to leave them until very last before walking down the aisle so they can be in water as long as possible.  Try removing your blooms after the ceremony and giving them a nice drink of water again until your reception begins.  If you can find a refrigerator for them to chill out in, that’s even better.  Once you’re on display again, have them pinned back in and they’ll be perky and rehydrated
