Rachel + Carson {In Love}

We love a great love story and we love beautiful images to go along with it! Today we are sharing Rachel and Carson’s gorgeous engagements by Chantel Marie and a little bit more about this couple! We love this couples style and that emerald green is gorgeous on you Rachel! These images speak for themselves but here is a little story about how this stunning couple met!

“I have moved 11 times in my life but I ended up moving to Layton, Utah right before high school. Carson is from Kaysville-born and raised. Carson and I were randomly assigned to sit next to each other in every math class we had in high school and became inseparable. We were best friends. He went on a mission to Poland and I went to college. When he got back, I had been seriously dating someone and through a dramatic-filled summer–> I chose to marry Carson. We have known each other for six years now. IT IS ABOUT TIME!!!!!! I have dreamed about this my whole life-I cannot believe it is here!”

40′s Inspiration: Bridals

Brian Smyer is a new photographer to the Utah wedding industry but not new to his craft, an accomplished artist in other photography genres this local talent proves he can shoot bridal too! He collaborated with a few good local artists in other disciplines to create this gorgeous 40′s inspired bridal session including our own Studio Stems showing it up on the bouquet, Heather Shelton on makeup & hair, and The Woods on Ninth hosted. We especially loved how sweet but then sultry this gorgeous model could look, a truly modern take on the times and fashions of the past.

Utah Winter Engagements {Beth & Tomu}

Today we are sharing a cozy and stunning engagement session sent to us by Alixann Loosle Photography! We are starting to move away from winter sessions but we just loved this intimate engagement session. In the past, props have been a popular addition to engagement sessions. The style is shifting away from props but this is a great example of something small that can add a lot of meaning to photographs!

Flower Friday Recipes With Blossom Sweet

It is recipe day! Love flower Friday recipes and today Melissa with Blossom Sweet out does herself with a bouquet, a bout, and a centerpiece giving us the recipe for it all! Based upon a recent wedding package she custom created for one of her clients she shows us what can be done with a few core blooms, some accents, and some fillers!

When I booked this wedding, I was so excited about the designs. The bride came in for our consultation with a soft, feminine palette of blush, champagne, buttercream, gray, and sage. But the groom sent her with a message for me: he was a fan of bold tones. They Had two different tastes, but I figured if the two individuals were getting married, why not marry the two palettes? And so we did just that, and may I say it came together perfectly. Here’s how we made it happen:

Soft tones for her: she got antique green hydrangea, camel roses (to die for), Juliette garden roses, and stock (an under-appreciated bloom!).

Bold tones for him: he got bikini roses, coffee break roses (a personal favorite), acacia, craspedia, snapdragons, ranunculus, leucadendron, and solidago.

Neutral tones for them: they got queen anne’s lace, lisianthus, artichokes, amaranthys, hypericum, eucalyptus, blackberries, and curly willow.

The bridal bouquet has to be an all-time favorite of ours. I feel like it has a personality of it’s own! While there were accents of bold pops of color, overall the bouquet was a soft and delicate picture of femininity. The hydrangea, lisanthus, and garden roses are soft and ruffly, the stock and standard roses provided the perfect balance of structure, and the acacia and queen anne’s lace added the perfect touch of whimsy. To complete the look we added several filler and accent elements and finished it all off with a gray satin wrap and gold pins.

Of course the groom got his bold boutonniere.  We used a combination of burnt orange ranunculus, acacia, curly willow, blackberries, hypericum, seeded eucalyptus and craspedia.  It sounds like a lot of elements (and it is), but each element is very small so it all worked well for this design.  The boutonniere was finished with a simple gray satin wrap.

Now on to the centerpiece.  Ah, the centerpiece.  The centerpieces at this wedding we to die for!  It was a treat to design them.  The bride rented Alpine Event Rental’s Farmhouse Tables which were the perfect backdrop for some seriously stunning blooms.  We used long rectangular wooden boxes for the containers, and filled them up with blooms from the bride’s bouquet, also introducing additions of artichokes, snapdragons, and solidago.  The centerpieces were lush, the centerpieces were large, the centerpieces were perfect.

Special thanks to Utah Bride Blog for the new flower Friday “recipe” feature & concept and to Lindsey Orton Photography for such great images! Adore! Happy Weekend!

Michelle & Jake: A High Country Wedding

Michelle & Jake got married at the High Star Ranch in Kamas, UT last summer. They did it with high style and charm! We all want to go “down home” sometimes and just have a good time, these two did just that with all of their guests! David Newkirk captured the people and the details effortlessly with only the ease that he can. We especially loved the recycled bottles of spirits on the tables, the boots all the ladies wore, the dancing, the gorgeous ceremony under that big tree, and all the good friends celebrating! Congrats Michelle & Jake and thanks David for sharing this good old country wedding with us!

Flower Friday: Preferred Florist Studio Stems

We begin today’s post with one incredible bouquet from another one of our fabulous five florists, Studio Stems! This continues our series of getting to know each of our preferred florists and what they have to offer Utah brides!

Photo Courtesy of Alixann Loosle Photography

Ties are close for Studio Stems and Utah Bride Blog {as many of you know}, but it doesn’t make the privilege any less appreciated, if anything it amps up the obligation! Both of which I am grateful for! I am surrounded by immense talent in the floral industry, especially right here on UBB and am inspired everyday by my peers! I have been working as an event florist for nearly 14 years, most of which I have worked for myself.  There has always been a lot of talent here but even more so in the most recent years, people seem to have the energy to open creative business’s and be successful, this creates a healthy and competitive business atmosphere that any artist should embrace as they endeavor to grow and that I have personally found so refreshing in more recent times!

Studio Stems is an event based floral design studio that focuses almost exclusively on weddings with a custom design format fitted to each individual bride. A process that allows me as the designer to really truly know and understand what that brides floral style is, which in turn creates a truly custom piece fitted like custom fashion! The style here typically has some traditional and classical core with a flair off in almost any direction but usually organic and feminine. I pride myself in being able to accomplish good design in multiple styles.

Situated in north Lehi this puts us conveniently right between the two core communities here in Utah, Salt Lake and Utah County, but we service just about anywhere you want to take us and enjoy working at a variety of venues throughout this beautiful state!

The other day I was interviewed for another online article and they asked me what I would want my potential clients to know about me so I thought I would share that here as well: I am pretty relatable and down to earth, not a lot of personal glitz and glam, just good style and desire to design and create! And a little quirk about me as a designer, music moves me when I design and contributes immensely to the outcome of my creations. It doesn’t take me long into the design process with any given client to know just what kind of tunes will be playing in the studio while in production for their big day!

Thanks Audrey for sharing with us a little insight into Studio Stems and the incredible floral artistry that backs that name!
