Featured Wedding {Siera & Adam}

Today we have a simple + sweet summer wedding photographed Elegant Images by to share with you! We love the romantic color palette from this wedding and the vintage touches. Our favorite detail from this wedding would have to be the gourmet donuts! If a traditional wedding cake isn’t your thing and you are looking into different options, donuts are darling and clever! This way your guests can have a variety of flavors to choose from! As you can see from this wedding they can also be displayed to give a great visual element to your event! Would you serve donuts at your wedding or are you sticking to a traditional wedding cake?

Kourtnee & Brandon’s Summer Wedding

We leave the snow of yesterdays post behind and bring on some warmth! As spring comes on here in Utah we all head outdoors to grasp the warmth of the sun, the winter is nearly behind us and summer weddings are in the near future. This summer 2012 wedding is especially inspiring. Not a detail was missed for this backyard soiree. We loved all the custom and yet intimate details of this sit down dinner celebration and the sense of family importance. Kourtnee & Brandon are clearly connected to the children in their families, thus prepping them for the future brood they could have. Details especially done well: games that provided color and good design coupled with entertainment, favors, table settings, and fantastic blooms! Thanks for sharing Cascio Photography.

Snowy Park City Engagements {Alison + Dan}

We are officially wrapping up our winter features and had to share one last gorgeous snowy engagement session in Park City by Angie Andrews with Sweet Memory Garden! Alison and Dan are a lovely couple and we adore that they took a little risk and took the Park City snow head on! These images are seriously amazing and so fun with the falling snow and we adore everything about them! We are so luck to live in such a beautiful state so why not take advantage of that and have a little fun in the snow!

Flower Friday: Preferred Florist Petal Pixie

Today we continue our series that takes a look at each of our 5 fabulous preferred florists, and today is an especially great one, with a look at a newcomer to our list Petal Pixie! Kim is perhaps one of the best florists to watch in 2013 as her company grows to the magnitude of her extraordinary talent! We are delighted to have her on our preferred list!

I am so excited to be a part of Utah Bride Blog this year!  I have followed UBB for years and truly believe this is the top wedding planning source for Utah brides.  The talent listed in the flower section is amazing to say the least.  And to be a part of such a talented group is humbling.

I have a hard to describing my “style” I like to call it mix and match.  I guess some would call it eclectic.  But underneath it all I lean toward a soft sophistication a natural yet elegant look that is timeless.  I love texture and things a little wild.  I love creating specifically for my client to represent who they are and their individual style.  I tend to design from my soul and not from a picture.  I take special care while I design and focus on color, texture, movement, and shape.

Some fun facts about me, my “uniform” tends to be skinny jeans, flats, and a cardigan.  My dream is to live on a self-sufficient farm with my family where I grow my own flowers.  I studied classical ballet for over 15 years and taught for five.  I collect antiques and own multiple pieces given to me by my grandparents. I only listen to Pandora Radio and my top five stations are: The Civil Wars, Sarah McLachlan, Enya, Priscilla Ahn, and Mumford and Sons.

I love to travel and am very lucky to work with suppliers and growers that can ship flowers anywhere in the United States.  I currently provide flowers throughout Utah (primarily the Wasatch Front and Park City), Southeast Idaho, and Jackson Hole, WY.  Thank you for taking some time to learn a little more about Petal Pixie!

Utah Groomals: Kleinfeld Cancelation

Mad Marie Photography sent us this gorgeous groomal session and we loved it for a plethora of reasons. This bride breaths high fashion, she had herself an apt set up at Kleinfelds in NYC but then convinced by a family member to go shopping here in Utah, found that we in fact have some seriously couture gowns too! She ended up canceling her NYC apt in trade for a one-of-a-kind couture gown found right here in Utah at Gateway Bridal! This bride knows how to fill her life with sentiment as well, we loved that she wore so many meaningful vintage items including her getaway dress that is nearly 50 years old and a stunner! She also wore her grandmothers mink stole, wedding band, and pearls! She sent us a quote by her brother that fit so well …. ”Keep your love modern to stay with the times, but keep your love old fashioned so that it lasts for a lifetime.” Congrats Madison & Jose!

Alex & Logan: Bowling Engagements

Alex & Logan said ‘I do’ back in the summer of 2012 but their engagements are stand out! Both of these lovely individuals have a unique beauty about them and they clearly love each other for it too! Mikki Platt captured them in the clean classic soft style she has come to be known for! Alex & Logan met bowling down in Cedar City, UT so it seems well suited to tell the tale of love through images captured bowling! This time they headed to the Midway/Heber area for a bit of nature capture and some bowling fun at Holiday Bowl.

Studio Bridals {Carli}

Today we are sharing a classic and simple bridal session photographed by Kate Osborne. We love how soft and feminine these images are! They truly show off the bride’s natural beauty. The first image on the post is a collection of three generations worth of dresses; the grandmother’s, the mother’s and Carli’s. We love this sweet and sentimental touch to her bridal session!

2013 Color Inspiration

Those subtle and soft romantic tones are still “in” dont mistake this post for a change in trend, but also making a comeback is the use of color! So today for flower Friday we found a few great bouquets to show you just what we mean!

Ombre

We all know and have seen how the use of multiple tones of one color can be creative and profound and this trend is around to stay for the 2013 year. It seems to get better with time too! Ombre bouquets twist up the use of contrast in color from light to dark and the use of color to make a statement with their slow graduation of tone. We love both of these gorgeous bouquets above, one that is very ombre in its movement in soft and subtle tones and another that has an ombre feel but is more mixed and less graded. Below some classic ombre bouquets move from one shade to the next and both bring a powerful punch of color. Just goes to show the soft tones can be done in ombre fashion and so can the rich and powerful ones!

Monochromatic

Monochromatic bouquets are usually selected by a color discerning bride! And they work well when the use of single color is meant to be the focal point of the wedding. The use of one color, typically tone on tone, draws the eye and makes a statement, a somewhat modern and clean one. Not all mono bouquets need to be made of just one variety of bloom {though that often is the case} take for example this lovely green cymbidium orchid mixed with a bit of freesia for texture it still maintains its monochromatic movement. Or below we have a monobotanical bouquet of hydrangea that works both ways and a bouquet that is primarily monochromatic with just a touch of texture in the way of foliage, mixes it up a bit and softens the impact.

Rainbow

As stated previously color is making a comeback and in a bold, rich, and colorful way. “Rainbow” bouquets are emerging on the scene with a trend that suggests that when it comes to flowers many colors can and should be used! We love how the above bouquet maintains an earthy and organic nature while still playing with a lot of color. The word “rainbow” could even be scary for some as they try to visualize this concept but the two bouquets below show how beautiful a truly colorful bouquet can be. So much color in one bouquet is bound to leave an impression!

Need a little color added to your wedding? Dont be afraid to talk with your florist about trying out some of these 2013 color trends! We hope you have been inspired! TGIF!
