Mara shares her expert advice and ideas on how to make your bridal shower one to remember!
When we’re offered the opportunity to plan social events other than weddings, we’re thrilled to get involved and help style parties that would otherwise be “the same old”. We’ve all been to dozens of “typical” bridal showers held in someone’s home, had cookies, played absurd games, watched the opening of gifts and left wondering what to do with the remainder of our Saturday afternoon. I am finding more and more clients looking for professional help with the planning and styling of all kinds of social events, including showers.
After determining our color palette of ivory, yellow and spring greens we chose to incorporate a plaid graphic to keep the feel light and fun. We worked with Pink Piggy Design to create our invitation and coordinating custom “printables” for dessert tags, water bottle wraps, mini candy bars, Hershey kisses, cupcake flags and more. The same colors, fonts and graphics used on the invitation were also used on the printables to create a cohesive feel and provide continuity of the elements. Printables are high up on my list of MUST HAVE items for showers and parties. Everything is fully customizable, so we were able to incorporate the couple’s name and wedding date onto multiple items, which made everything very personal.
Brown floral created floral arrangements that were used on our dessert buffet and through out the space that incorporated our color scheme and a selection of flowers we felt paired well with our whimsical stationery. A few floral arrangements are always a great idea, flowers immediately soften a space and create an environment which looks complete.
The confectionery geniuses at So Cupcake customized three of their standard vanilla, coconut and keylime cupcakes and frosted them to match our color palette. A good rule of thumb is to always stick to colors within your palette, and don’t be afraid to allow the different elements vary within a few shades- too “matchy matchy” looks too intentional and forced. Delicious French Macaroons from La Bonne Vie were served as guest favors packaged in clear cellophane bags and tied with personalized “thank you” tags. This is a really easy DIY anyone could manage. We opted to display the macaroons on our dessert buffet and also arranged them in a basket at the door for guests to take.
Even if your budget won’t allow for professional planning and design services, remember to think outside of the box and turn to professionals to help with other elements. A great event pro is versed in the latest and greatest in event trends; take advantage of their knowledge to make your party one of a kind.
Thank you so much Mara for sharing these fantastic ideas with us and thank you to Aubrey with Aub Photography for providing such lovely photos!

We are putting together a bridal shower for my cousin, and this would be so fun to win! I love the printables… but one of my favorite things about it was the cute heart fruit kabobs! I also loved the straws! So cute!
I’ve been appointed maid of honor for my older sister’s wedding and I’ve been looking for ideas for her upcoming bridal shower. I absolutely love this shower design idea. I love the customized prints that go with everything. It’s a perfect idea and a great way to tie everything together. What an awesome giveaway! I’d love to win!
I love that it’s not pink. Don’t get me wrong I love pink and purple and more, but it’s just kind of refreshing with the green/yellow. A nice little surprise for your guests and maybe even the bride. And of course everything matches…you can’t go wrong with that. The little details are perfect !
I love the bright colors of this collection. This printable bridal shower would be so great to have for upcoming bridal showers I plan on throwing. I would love to be the winner of this prize
Loving the mix of the plaid and polka dots so cute! And those kabobs are adorable!I am getting married in June and would love to win this bridal shower give-a-way to share with all of my friends and family:)
I absolutely love the attention to detail in this shower. Making heart shaped fruit skewers, putting adorable patterns on the bottom of hershey kisses, and wrapping candy bars in themed paper all make this shower cohesive and fun. I love that this shower could be done on any budget! By keeping everything in the same color family you’re able to create a strong theme without overspending. Thanks for the great ideas!
I love all the fun prints. Would love to win
