UBB Fall 2013 Editorial {Beauty & Fashion}

We hope you are enjoying our version of an Indian summer, we embrace the opportunity that it is to work with such amazing industry pros here in Utah and orchestrate inspiration for our local brides. A wedding is a celebration of love between two people so looking beyond all these beautiful details our shoot begins with two models and the beauty and fashion that make them wedding ready, just as a real wedding would. A big thanks to Alix Loosle again for photographing all of this for us!

Today we bring you a look into the bridal hair & makeup, the gorgeous Sarah Seven gown, unique jewelry, and our grooms fashion. Several of our amazing industry pros are joining us to share with you a closer look at these fashion details. We kick it off with beauty and welcome our local legend and Pinterest phenom Stephanie Brinkerhoff from Hair & Makeup by Steph!

Hair: braids are still very popular for brides. They can be dressed up or dressed down, elegant or boho. This type of chunky, messy braid was perfect for the earthy Indian feel of this editorial shoot. More and more brides are currently wearing their hair down or half down. If you have the length, you should definitely show it off! The type of curl you do can make all the difference in how well your hair coordinates with your overall look. Everything from glamorous to retro to boho curls are in style right now, so pick what fits your style. For this shoot, I chose to do a wavy, textured curl that wasn’t too put together or formal.

Makeup:  The makeup colors I used are great for fall – a deep, rich color on the lips and warm, dewy colors for the eyes.  Fall is all about rich colors, so think of the season when deciding on the makeup look you are going for.  It’s also a good idea to semi-coordinate your makeup with the colors in your wedding.  You don’t want to be too matchy-matchy, but adding a hint of color in your makeup that goes well with your wedding will help bring everything together in pictures.

Next we take a look at the gorgeous jewels that adorn our Indian bride from Katie Waltman Jewelry. Katie is a local designer with a beautiful little shop in the 9th and 9th district {SLC}, a highly sought after designer her pieces have been seen in the likes of People, Oprah, and Elle magazine. Often times a designer for the rich & famous we are delighted to have her artistic soul here in Utah. We kept most of our bling selection subtle gold with touches of natural stones in colors that coordinate well with our bride and theme. A truly inspiring ensemble of jewels, just goes to show not every bride needs to be covered in diamonds.

And then we have that gold Sarah Seven gown that we know you are all swooning over, it came from The Brides Shop in SLC. We here at UBB are thrilled to see Sarah Sevens become more locally accessible to our Utah brides. Amanda from the shop joins us with some specific details about this gold wonder:

A softly woven gown of golden spun thread; Sarah Seven’s Goldie gown is uniquely edgy, while remaining romantic and feminine. A truly couture gown, offering a modern bride a stunning alternative to the traditional ballgown.

Sarah Seven is not your everyday bridal gown designer. Making all gowns by hand, Sarah focuses on creating soft and light dresses for brides that want a feminine and spirited look for their wedding day.

ubbfashion11ubbfashion4ubbfashion1We finish off today’s fashion post with a look at what our groom is wearing! We selected our grooms fashion from The Men’s Wearhouse Outlet in Lehi at the Traverse Mt. Outlets. A store filled with a vast variety of options and some amazing deals, this is a treasure of a resource not currently very tapped by our local grooms and bridal party. There are several men’s fashion experts working at this great place so stop on in and let them know UBB sent you. The store manager Scott Peck joins us with a detailed look into what we put on this gent!

At The Men’s Wearhouse we have everything for the groom, whether you’re renting tuxedos or purchasing a tuxedo or suit, we have the style and the sizes you need. Designer labels like Tommy Hilfiger, Kenneth Cole, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Geoffrey Beene, and Bill Blass are just a few of the items you will find in our outlet.

The groom for the UBB editorial shoot is wearing our Michael Kors suit in solid black. This slim fit suit comes with a more modern looking peak lapel and 2 side vents. The pant as a flat front which amplifies a more European look. Complimenting the suit is an ivory colored Men’s Wearhouse shirt with a Men’s Wearhouse skinny purple/black herringbone tie. Rounding out the look is a light purple pocket square. Last but not least is the slim pointed snakeskin looking Robert Wayne shoe. All elements are available in a variety of colors. This look is classic but current and will be a style that even years down the road any groom would be proud to have worn.
