We love the Palm Springs vibe here at UBB and Scenemakers nailed this cool Viceroy feel. From the upscale modern and clean tableware details to the basil mojito drinks to refresh our modern set! We are talking specifics behind the tableware details, cocktail hour, and that gorgeous modern cake from Layers Cake today! Allie from Scenemakers joins us bringing her design insight to the table …… literally!
Although I’m no bartender, I have to admit that it was a blast coming up with this drink concept. I loved the idea of a mojito for a spring themed wedding – mint and lime freshness! I wanted to dress it up in a unique way, to capture the modern and fun environment. Of course black white were colors I wanted to somehow add to their display. These fun straws really made it easy. It was still missing some color, so yellow was my nest target. I considered adding a yellow blossom, but who wants a flower in their drink. Finally, the idea of a yellow sugar rim hit – mission accomplished.
For display, fresh sprigs of mint, and a tall glass container of limes were perfect accouterments Bundled black and white straws added some punch, as did the cute signature drink sign by Pink Piggy, held up by a lime with a slit. A white glass table top, and white backdrop made this drink displays stand out. The last details to complete this were a polished quartz crystal tray, with a silver metallic lining, and a cymbidium blossom.
We have a unique familiarity with Palm Springs here at UBB as it would be I have family there providing an easy getaway that I take advantage of often! I know that the vibe exudes lavishness in a cool, modern, and refreshing tone and this table really sets the mood perfectly, I can see myself setting at this exact table in one of my favorite PS resorts!
Linens are the basis for any successful table setting and here Scenemakers started with some gems from Wildflower Linens. An initial drape in White Nu Silk, and napkins set in iridescent taffeta in Emerald green, our focus color and Pantone’s wedding color of the year! The chairs where dressed in this same Emerald green taffeta.
We have some fab local sources for tableware that set whatever mood and style you might define as a couple. Many of our local sources also have registries for you planning couples, including Macy’s whom provided some gorgeous details to finish off our table settings. The plates are part of the Sophie Conran White Portmeirion collection. Distinctly ribbed white porcelain that feels feminine while still adding some texture to the table. The goblets are Mikasa Cheers Balloon Goblets, they come in a set that bodes various graphic patterns etched onto the clear glass. The silverware, Riedel stemless glassware, and the crystal platter all came from a pristine private collection. And so the table is set and ready to go for the most divinely modern wedding party!
Our cake created, by Julie Hill at Layers Cake, is nothing short of a modern wedding master piece. This cake belonged in this gallery, like the piece of art it is!
Julie adds her input: Graphic patterns inspired the cake design along with a bold contrast between black and white. The design was created with black fondant appliques. Sugar Ranunculus flowers add softness and interest, and the couple’s monogram personalizes the design.
She suggests that butter vanilla cake with pistachio Italian meringue butter-cream icing would fit the bill on this one and we agree! Stay tuned for fashion details tomorrow!
