UBB Summer 2013 Editorial Feature

We are thrilled to share with you our kick-off to the UBB Summer Editorial shoot with you today! Our quarterly editorial shoots are our favorite weeks of the year and this shoot was no exception! We absolutely loved all of the vendors involved in this shoot! It’s fun, bright, natural, and on trend!

Ashley from Attention 2 Detail Events has impeccable taste and we were delighted with the designs she came up with! After planning something this big, the pictures and video are the most important part so we were so happy to work with the fabulous Lindsey Orton who created gorgeous images as well as the amazing Nathan Picket who produced a beautiful video!

Living in Utah, we have a lot of brides who are looking to do a very rustic wedding. We loved the idea of keeping it natural as well as glaming it up! That is how we came up with the “glamping” theme! We asked Ashley to give us more insight into the designs she came up with.

For the Summer inspiration shoot, I was really inspired by “glamping” (glamorous camping) that is a huge Hollywood and celebrity trend right now.
Living in Utah, we have so many amazing outdoor spaces in the Summer months, that many locals often overlook, but are coveted by out of town brides. I really wanted to highlight the organic elements that Utah has to offer.
Using camping as an inspiration, it allows you to tap into the fun memories that you remember as a child.
This theme would be perfect for a couple that is looking for their wedding to be playful and relaxed, without sacrificing style. Using an outdoor space as your venue allows you to focus on the details of your day, instead of transforming an existing space.

For the color palette, I chose olive, navy, and tan as a base, to incorporate the camping experience, but also added pops of bright jewel toned fuchsias and purples, to enhance the elegance and sophistication of a typical outdoor environment.
I wanted to keep the design playful so I incorporated traditional camping items but dressed them up to appeal more for a wedding.
I used a wooden farmhouse style table to symbolize the look and feel of picnic tables. Flashlights and camping tin cups, used as vases, were hung to create fun visual details over the table.
Kerosene lanterns were used to balance the floral centerpieces and a compass was used as a fun way to display the table number.
Leaves, with custom calligraphy, were hung between fishing poles and were used to escort guests to their table.
Open match boxes, wrapped in navy gingham fabric, were placed on each place setting. Each matchbox was lined with a guests name in custom calligraphy, directing them to their seat.

I really loved the idea of having a custom fishing lure created for guests as favors. There are many online suppliers that allow you to create custom lures with your wedding date, names, or wedding details printed right on them! Such a fun and creative favor that guests will leave talking about!

Utah has an endless amount of gorgeous outdoor spaces that would work perfectly for this inspiration and design. You are only limited by your imagination!
