UBB Summer 2013 Editorial {Food Details}

With a glamping theme the food possibilities can be really fun and playful! Your menu can really bring to life that camping feel for your guests and be one of the main focal points of the event! Ashley with Attention 2 Detail Events used traditional ingredients that most people pack in their coolers, but transformed them into bites that were more sophisticated for a wedding.

“For the custom cocktail, I wanted to serve something that would be refreshing and play up some of the ingredients that are in season during the summer months. I created a Strawberry Beer lemonade, using pureed strawberries, fresh squeezed lemon juice, white sugar, and pale ale. Using the bride and groom’s favorite pale ale is a great way to tailor this drink around the couple too!

Playing off of traditional watermelon slices, I created a refreshing watermelon, avocado, and tomato salad. The salad was served with drizzled olive oil and balsamic dressing and topped with sprigs of basil and cilantro.

Bite-sized beef corn dogs were plated and served with a spicy chili mustard.

I like keeping the servings small so that guests can get a taste of each offering, but not get full on a large main dish. This will allow you to serve smaller portions but have a larger selection.

S’mores are a camping staple but I wanted to serve something that was less expected. I created s’mores shots which were layered with a toasted graham cracker and butter crust, dark chocolate mousse, and topped with mini marshmallows. Served with mini spoons, this option would be just as delicious as traditional s’mores, but with a lot less of the mess!

For the wedding cake we wanted it to have a bit of a rustic look and feel to it. One Sweet Slice did an increadible job creating a “naked” cake for us that fit the glamping theme perfectly! Topped off with gorgeous fresh flowers and you have a unique + stunning cake that coordinates nicely with the atmoshphere!

To finish off any camping event you have to have some hot chocolate by the fire! What a fun way for your guests to enjoy the evening then to offer little customized cantiens filled with hot chocolate to sip on and enjoy the scenery!

Work with your caterer to create custom items that are unexpected and tie in the camping theme, for a one of a kind dining experience for you and your guests!”
