Tyler & Marissa had a simple wedding at one of our local landmarks, This is the Place. This well matched couple knew what they wanted, and who they were, and just how to orchestrate that into their wedding. Ivy & Stone shared this simple beauty with us. We love having brides who send us their personal insight to share with our readers and we are so pleased that Marissa is joining us with a few thoughts about her wedding today!
All my life I’ve had a great love for the outdoors and because of this, I pictured myself marrying the love of my life in the outdoors. With October being a wishy-washy game of weather, I decided I needed an indoor venue. As soon as I saw The Garden Place at This is the Place Heritage Park, I KNEW that this really was actually ‘the place’ to marry Tyler. The beautiful wooden beams, the stone rock fireplace, and the surrounding fields of the venue made the wedding feel like we were in the middle of the mountains and that’s exactly the feel I always dreamt of for my wedding day.
I decided early on to keep our wedding and our decorations rather simple. My wedding dress was unevenly finished throughout all the ruffles. My floral hair piece was small and colorless but still added a little beauty to my hair. The decorations were all rustic style; we had small flickering lanterns, our mason jars were full of Baby’s Breath, and our signing book was an antiqued wood bench. But my favorite decoration of all… Our wood slice center pieces. My dad’s close friend owns a logging company so all the wood was freshly cut and you could smell the outdoors as you sat at the tables. My dad welded the letter T and the letter M to brand each slice in representation of Tyler and I.
